Newsflash: Living in 1628 is hard work So that big reality show that had us all on the edge of our seat is finally over: that's right Colonial House! This is the latest in a series of programs done joinly with PBS and Channel 4 in the UK that explores what it would be like to live in a certain historical time period - modern people try to recreate that time with as much accuracy as possible. Hilarity, controversy and awesomeness insue (with video diaries!). more inside

Debunking the hype, or missing the point? One woman has set out to debunk the Super Size Me myth - she lost 10 pounds eating nothing but McDonald's for 30 days. Is she the voice of sanity and personal responsibility or did the whole point just go right over her head? I'm not sure how to feel. Thoughts? [via Gastroblog] more inside

Brokeback Mountain Although Gus Van Sant was originally slated to direct it after his success with Good Will Hunting, and the script has bounced around Hollywood for years, it seems that the movie, based on an amazing Annie Proulx short-story, will finally be made. The tragic story follows the lives of two Wyoming sheepherders and will most likely star Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal. I was blown away when I read the short story (although be warned, there are some fairly explicit scenes), but the question remains: is Hollywood/America ready for the unapologetic love story of two gay cowboys?
