P2P For Democracy! Stolen from Slashdot. This is an effort to make government documents (and memos, and speeches, and reports, etc) available over P2P networks in an effort to give the public the tools to access information on their elected officials that would otherwise be difficult to obtain. more inside
DNA Interactive In a total coincidence with the poetry link below, this site has great click-through animations of the history and significance of DNA research. It defies you not to learn something. Just in case you're called to be on the jury of a famous athlete's heinous crime.
Bush: The Anti-democratic President Jonathan Chait makes a case on how Bush has hurt the democratic process of America more than any other president in modern history. On another note: the article states that Bush the first president since James Garfield not to veto a bill in his first term. Garfield died in 1881 and didn't serve a full term.
Earth's real biodiversity is invisible, whether we like it or not. "As one moves down the size spectrum of organisms, from the romantic large mammals and birds, through nondescript small arthropods, on down to protozoan, bacterial and viral species, not only does concern for diversity and conservation fall away, it even changes sign." Save the endangered Archaea!

The All Music Guide gets reworked. The unrivaled music information site recently got a facelift, as well as a number of new features, including music samples and sortable search results. Hopefully the new incarnation will be even better than the awesome predecessor; one drawback, though, is that most of the new features require sign-up, albeit free of charge. I'll miss the signature chunky yellow scheme, but the sleek new metallic seems pretty slick as well.

Ronstadt praises F9/11, all hell breaks loose. Before singing "Desperado" for an encore Saturday night, the 58-year-old rocker called Moore a "great American patriot" and "someone who is spreading the truth." . . . some of the 4,500 people in attendance stormed out of the theater. People also tore down concert posters and tossed cocktails into the air. more inside
