Sir Mix-A-Lot still loves... backpacks? (Warning Flash!) Click the girl with the backpack and you will hear Sir Mix-A-Lot's "Baby Got Back" retooled as a Target jingle for backpacks. Odd for a song whose video MTV would only play late at night because of its suggestive content. Is this the worst ad song ever?
  • This isn't as bad as the Gerber's commercial using Gwar's "Have you seen me?"
  • Based on the Slate article, I'd say No - this isn't the worst ad song ever. But I'm never forgiving Nike for "Revolution". Ever. Oh and because of that sweatshop thing too.
  • This sounds bad.
  • "Melt with You" by Modern English was used for Burger King to sell cheese burgers. Broke my heart.
  • There's a local car lot using a reworked "I Want You to Want Me" as a jingle that makes a little part of me die every time I hear it. The Target one is pretty bad.
  • "Fry, stop listening to that stuffy old music about the buttocks!"
  • Anything by The Who is... well, okay, it's not as bad as 'Revolution'. Never mind.
  • My inner 80's kid died a little more the day I heard a chopped-up 'Mr. Blue Sky' on that convertible Beetle ad.
  • Anybody who remembers the Golden Age of Dr. Demento will remember a parody of the Beach Boys' "Barbara Ann", reworded to become a tribute to a local furniture store pitchman named "Ed Barbara" (he pronounced his last name with emhasis on the second 'bar'). You'd think that'd scare advertisers away from that song forever, but no-o-o-o! A local L.A. car dealer is now using the same tune as "Keyes, Keyes, Keyes... Keyes on Van Nuys..." Lamest. Local. Jingle. Ever.
  • I think Nissan using a Smiths song was the worst ever for me (though I wondered if the ad guys actually listened to the song... "I am the son and heir of nothing in particular" selling cars?). The backpack song is pretty bad, though. The best/worst car song is a "rap" performed in the style of "Amadeus," complete with faux accent and odd inflections: "If you're looking to buy yourself a great car/Come to Trophy in Mesquite, it's not too far"
  • GWAAAAARRRRRR! I think it would rule if they were selling baby food. Or tampons. Or milk.
