I am the Walrus Coo-coo-catchoo!

The Alaska Department of Fish and Game have placed a webcam on Round Island to help track walrus haulout sites and to increase public awareness of this elusive animal.

  • Their link on that page is busted at the moment.
  • When I was a wee lad, I couldn't say "walrus" so I said "wasser-plasser" instead. Just thought I'd share that.
  • Cripes, serves me right for posting. I should keep to lurking around. I placed a call to the Center and they say they are working on it. They think it is a problem on the island. Probably a walrus who doesn't know how to program a VCR. I SCHWEAR it worked a little bit ago.
  • the rest of the site is worth checking out while we wait for the walruses to stop fighting over the remote. You can arrange a chance to help feed the birds at the sanctuary, including the tufted puffin! Interesting stuff--thanks for the link, Hotcakes!
  • Here is Fish & Game's page about the Walrus Islands State Game Sanctuary. They have information about wildlife in and around the island, details about getting there, and even the gear you should bring if you want to camp there. Dont't forget your cards, walrus love 52 card pickup!
  • I'd think the walruses would be better at rummy.
  • It's goo goo g'joob /pedant
  • walrus cards nice link - thanks Hotcakes!
  • "wasser-plasser" WWWhhhhheew! that made me laugh so!!! thanks!
  • I've got to admit it, he's right. That's a dancing walrus.
  • I LUBS HIM
  • And without any cardboard, either. Impressive.
  • MEIN GOTT
  • It dances a dance of sorrow and yearning for its beloved lost bucket.
  • Here I thought it was hip-hop. Whatever.
  • Ayveq, the walrus whose bizarre, though oddly compelling, masturbation rituals made him an international sensation at the New York Aquarium, has died. -- He did have a raffish charm. I'm just...speechless. MonkeyFilter: bizarre, though oddly compelling, masturbation rituals That has got to be the *best* tagline evar posted.
  • “On Saturday night, he was perfect — no problems at all,” said Dohlin, “but the next morning, we could see that he was not right.” He couldn't see by the end, either. Ba-dum-dump!
  • Srsly, tho -- he was a great walrus, and a beloved friend. Let's give him a hand. Ba-dum-dump!
  • He really helped out the Aquarium financially. They were making money hand over fist! Ba-dum-dump!
