Shatner does Se7en (embedded .mov)
  • I should, to preempt the pants-pissing, add that this has nothing to do with a character from Voyager.
  • I admire those who participate in taking the piss out of themselves.
  • I'm afraid to look at it. Last time I heard him sing that 'Beautiful People' cover, actually liked his performance. Cripes.
  • 'Beautiful Common People'. Rats.
  • I've said it before (much to the boredom of my workmates) Has Been is a wonderful album. People find it too easy to jump on a bandwagon and prejudge without listening.
  • Perhaps it has something to do with growing up watching the old Star Trek every possible second of every possible day, but I find just about anything Shatner does to be mesmerizing. I love that man.
  • Now I want to see him do a cover of Beautiful People.
  • As a Star Trek fan (I was a teenager during the original series), I always HATED Shatner . . . but I've gradually started to tolerate him and with "Boston Legal" I was finally converted (especially since he seems to have developed a sense of humor). This is just icing on the cake.
  • I like some songs from Has Been a lot. Most of the rest I don't really enjoy, but it due to the style of music, not the performance.
  • I happen to like both. I only got the album because of the involvement of Ben Folds, who happens to be playing here in Cambridge on Thursday and I've managed to get a ticket. Derailing gloat.
  • Dear God, I was furious when they cut off the end of Boston Legal's season for that angst-ridden Gray's Anatomy bullshit. I want me some creepy-ass James Spader and DENNY CRANE!
  • OMG James Spader is so wickedly and creepily sexy. And I wish they'd bring back Rebecca De Mornay, she was so deliciously evil. I miss Boston Legal.
  • Too my total shock & astonishment, I *love* his cover of Common People. Love. It. And I don't mean ironically. Nobody was more surprised than I was.
  • Shatner is a genius. "What's in the box?!?!"
  • why hasn't anyone screamed KAAAAAAAAHHHHHHNNNN yet?
  • I also found the Shatnercated "Common People" to be a stunner, but I comfort myself with the notion that it's really a Joe Jackson cover of "Common People" with Shatner on vocals.
  • I miss Boston Legal. They claim to be bringing it back next fall. They just, for reasons that defy explanation, ended last season abruptly to give us Yet Another Medical Drama.
  • it's really a Joe Jackson cover of "Common People" with Shatner on vocals. That was for me the second punch in the ribs. "Joe fuckin' H. JACKSON?!? No way!" Yes way. Oh well. What's one guilty pleasure between friends? Ha, I know at least two women that hate James Spader with their guts. 'Always played a cynical backstabber'. Oh well. I've always liked his laid back performing ever since Sex, Lies and Videotape.
  • Not to mention Secretary. Still one of my favourite movies.
  • Mrs. Tool and I got some good mileage out of that one. Sharing too much? I am? Sorry.
  • Love, love, love Spader (and Secretary!!). Just for SideDish: KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN! Also loves Ricardo Montelbahn's magnificent chestal area in that movie
  • This was pretty funny, even though the MTV Music Awards themselves suck. I like how Bill takes plenty of pot-shots at himself quite often. Seems like a fun guy to hang out with and have a few drinks. My favorite character of his was the The Big Giant Head/Stone Phillips on Third Rock From the Sun. The one where he gets Harry's girlfriend Vicki is classic.
  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! is the new KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!
  • I liked Spader's performance in Stargate, for one... Anyway, for some reason, the linked .mov doesn't play for me in the browser. I'll wget it and see if that works any better.
  • It's a testament to Spader's brilliance that people don't like him because of the characters he creates. Crash is my favorite Spader movie. He is one of those actors that can almost single-handedly salvage an otherwise ok movie (ex. Stargate, Supernova, Wolf, Slow Burn).
  • I think you guys must have seen a different Stargate to the one I caught.
  • I miss Boston Legal. "They claim to be bringing it back next fall." *fingers crossed* That Desperate Housewife show was a surprise hit for ABC and I think they felt Boston Legal wasn't a strng enough lead or follow for it so they slotted what they thought was a stronger show. Dumbasses. That medical show stinks gobs.
