What Should You Really Eat?
  • thanks, this is a great link. the Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2005 continues to reflect the tense interplay of science and the powerful food industry BINGO!!! don't you love it when you read the actual truth?
  • Chips?
  • They don't have a pyramid step for pizza and beer. I protest! Pizza and beer is a major food group that should be eaten 5+ times a week by every American.
  • I wonder why champagne and doughnuts never caught on. *hic*
  • Babies. (pauses) Oh wait, that was actually an informative read.
  • I don't see puppies on that pyramid. Highly nutritious those things.
  • I think I've heard most of this before, but it's a good summary. Thanks. (And the new pyramid really is amazingly stupid. Wow.)
  • petebest, I like your style.
  • How come everything I like is at the tippity-top of the pyramid?
  • our evolution environment vs. human ingenuity and the ability to create our own environments
  • Shit, we're at code orange! Wait, does that mean I should watch out for terrorists or eat more carrots?
  • Wow, that's an awesome link, thank you homunculus. ...Revealing as it [the study] does that mood, behaviour and achievement are affected by whether the brain has enough of the right kind of nutrients to function properly, it throws into doubt how far anyone, from the disruptive child to the convicted criminal, can actually control their behaviour. The implications of this, if it proves to be conclusively the case, are so gigantic as to be difficult to imagine. Absolutely fascinating. (and thank you, by the way, for your unceasing vigilance and hard work in updating old threads with new links -- it is so very much appreciated and I don't tell you enough. Many many ((((( to you)
