Obviously here for the food. Jaws comes to England. British Monkeys beware!
  • Global warming is a myth, of course.
  • Holy crap! Interesting shark-related tidbit: Mako sharks are the fastest shark in the water, with speeds up to 20 mph, and can *leap* out of the water up to 20' in the air. They scare swordfishermen in the North Atlantic shitless with that sort of thing.
  • I'm not saying the global warming is a myth, but it has nothing to do with this particular news story: It is not unusual for mako sharks - which prefer cold water - to be found in the North Sea, but it is uncommon for one to stray close to the shoreline because they prefer deep waters. (Now if it was a Great White, there might be a connection.)
  • Suuuuuure. I used to live in england, I don't remember any shark attacks off bogna regis.
  • Why is the article measuring things in feet and inches? And who would want to go in the water this time of year? Brrr!!
  • especially in the north east. It's hard enough paddling there! Pity as Northumberland has some very beautiful beaches ...
  • Why is the article measuring things in feet and inches? To show those faceless burueacrats in Brussels a thing or two about British pluck. Or something similar, probably.
  • "Leathery sea squirt"
  • Pah. As a child, I went fishing for these buggers off the coast of Cornwall. Didn't catch any, obviously (blues are more common), but it's the thought that counts. They're much rarer in the North Sea, but not unknown. I'm not quite sure what the point of this story is, other than to fill up the Evening Standard's worthless, godforsaken pages...
