Godzilla thinks of the children. Photos from a stone-cutting shop in Japan. A bit of fun for a bleak day [via boingboing].

The rest of the site has some interesting pictures and commentary on contemporary life in Japan. want to see if we can get bulk discounts on the zilla?

  • We could get one big MoFi plot, give #1 the Godzilla stone, and the rest of us would have ruined skyscrapers with half-eaten corpses dangling out the windows for our headstones.
  • Lovely. Cheers
  • MCT, would that be MY half-eaten corpse, or just part of the sculpture?
  • ('Cuz I'm fine either way. Just want to know.)
  • OK I know we're all pretty tight monkeys and everything here but I think I'll pass on actually being buried with you guys.
  • mct, that is a beautiful idea. #2 could get Rodan, unless he prefers Mothra. Or Gigan. though I suppose a King Kong should be in there somewhere, for continuity.
  • I think King Kong would suit #2 best. Did Godzilla and King Kong ever inhabit the same city?
  • tracicle, DUDE, the original godzilla spin-off movie was "godzilla vs. king kong". it is the only other movie in which godzilla is a bad guy. (spoiler: king kong wins) godzilla then goes on to appear in a series of monster movies in which...he (?) defends japan from the horrors of motha, rodan et. al. (yes, I lived for the 4:30 movie monster week as a child)
  • Kingukongu tai Gojira from 1962.
  • Oh man, I feel so lame. I've seen all the other Godzilla vs $monster at various times, and somehow missed that one. /shame
  • well, it would be heading your way forthwith, but the DVD is now an out-of-print collectible and priced out of this monkey's range. ah well. this reminds me--did anyone get to see the redone Godzilla film, where they corrected the dubbing and removed Raymond Burr?
  • I want the one with the penguin.
  • ooh! penguin! I was distracted by the robust gentleman when I looked at that before.
  • That's not a penguin. It's a kappa. See also.
