Let's Hear It For the Liberal Media Via Left I On The News: I had to had at how Chris O'Brien of the San Jose Mercury News wrote this piece that reads like it came out of Karl Rove's office.
Silicon Valley's unemployment rate fell nearly a full percentage point to 5.5 percent in August. Yet the valley also lost 1,500 jobs.
It gets bad when you can't tell the difference between real news and The Daily Shows
  • The writer of this article is guilty of being illiterate with statistics, a crime committed by probably a majority of journalists -- which IS pathetic. Calling him a Karl Rove mouthpiece is a bit hysterical. (And trust me, in general I am hysterical -- hysterically outraged -- about the way my government has been acting. It's just important to keep our heads about how we analyze current events.)
  • Care to explain what's wrong with that quote? 'Cause I don't see anything wrong with it.
  • Citing unemployment percentages is silly. The numbers to look at is jobs gained and lose. No jobs were gain so to say that unemployment inproved is like saying the natinal deficit is better because it's only $420 billion. Not $470 billion as first predicted. Example: if a doctor told you your chances of dying in the next six months went from 65% to 50%, that doesn't mean you stop seeking medical treatment.
  • I'm with kmellis on this one. It's clumsily put, but it needn't be wrong.
