Lonely Grandfather wants to be adopted.

I actually thought this was a rather uplifting story, with regards to how many families responded. But isn't this also rather dangerous for Angelozzi? The elder-abuse siren is going off in my head.

  • Maybe that siren was triggered by the fact that he's a retired Classics teacher offering families about $600/month to "adopt" him and he notes that “So many families answered my appeal and want me to teach their children and their grandchildren about Horace and Catullus.” Hopefully those responses included many other things the famlies want him to do, along the lines of dinners, outings, etc.
  • This is so cool! I just happen to be in the market for a new grandpa; my old ones keep breaking.
  • My church offers a "Adopt-a-Grandparent" program. It's kind of like "Big Brothers, Big Sisters". You sign up, and are assigned an elderly parish member. You go to the zoo with them, visit at them at home, see movies, et cetera.
  • It looks like he found his family.
