Exiles: Uncertain times for Iraqi Canadians. Flash presentation from CBC's Radio 3, profiling three Iraqi Canadians as they talk about their lives, Iraq and the war. [via airgid.com, the designer's website.]

I know that officially this is Iraq-filter [insert slightly sheepish look here], but I found this site added something to my understanding of people and culure, and brought human faces to the whole issue. Also by the same designer (and for the CBC) is Anatomy of a Refugee Camp - which is very educational for those of us lucky enough to have never seen one.

  • I'm trying not to look at our refugee camps. Australia's shame (well, one of them anyway). *goes off to teach at school with Afghan refugee students, one of whom saw his father killed by happy Taliban types, whistles*
  • The refugee camp link isn't working right now, but there is a text version here. It goes over what is needed to make a safe refugee camp. I've (obviously) been thinking about this a lot lately.
