You weren't in the market for a boat, were you?
  • Now that is a boat.
  • I just need to find a spare 6 million dollars and that baby is mine!
  • Might need a couple extra bucks for juice and parking.
  • 21st century white elephant sale.
  • I think that qualifies as a white elephant.
  • c'mon each monkey puts in . . lessee . . US $6600, and we're in like Flynn! A floating meetup venue!
  • Say, I like it and all, but do they have anything bigger? Say 700' ?
  • Once again I wonder why the most expensive items have the most rinky-dink ads.
  • BearGuy - yes, they have bigger...
  • We're nearly 1000 members. That makes it $6000 each. (Our MoFi meets would lick those lame-ass MeFi meets.)
  • /me promises to read the thread before posting in future.
  • $6m seems absurdly cheap. Perhaps the French could use it? On the other hand, these folks, who sound knowledgeable, describe the annual operating costs of a conventional carrier as being $193m. That's $193,000 each. I'm thinking we should take a pass. One of the pics has the caption Minas Gerais, which appears to be a place in Brazil. How strongly to we trust the Brazilian Navy's maintenance crews? Also, will they fly us to Rio to kick the tires?
  • Cuz if they will, I'll go.
  • Ah, thanks FlashBoy...now I need to decide which I prefer, creature comforts or abundant gas (gaz) storage? It's a tougher choice than you'd imagine!
  • $6 mil cheap? That's barely more than what they'd get selling it for scrap. OTOH, according to Haze Gray, there's not much call for surplus British WWII ships these days. Of course, we could just cover the landing strip with a nice turf and have the world's first mobile croquet field.
  • That vintage aircraft carrier would go great with my vintage oven and vintage toaster.
  • L. Bob Rife and Pearlgate Associates have very big plans for this. Maybe we should chip in and buy it just so he can't.
