Map of the Milky Way Galaxy. Mouseover for feature labels.
  • That's a beautiful picture. Thanks Hank. I just finished a short course on astronomy where I found out about a cool website that puts everything-galactic in context. (Just keep pressing the zoom button.)
  • WOW! Just...wow. Kinda puts everything into perspective, dunnit?
  • Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind- bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.
  • IF you can read this u r in the same galaxy as me
  • Holy shit!
  • Actually, the chemists down the road isn't so far. It's more finding a chemist on a Sunday afternoon that's a pain. Y'know, when you've entered that long dark teatime and you realise you've run out of paracetomol.
  • Brings back memories, this post. I haven't seen the Milky Way since working in West Texas. But we found a sandpit to screen off the light pollution from Philly. Viewed the comet Hal Bop that time, but still no Milky Way in this part of New Jersey...
  • *feels bad that Dan can't see the Milky Way* *feels bad for East coast kiddies* *vows to go look at Milky Way tonight*
