Terry Pratchett, there's light at the end of the tunnel.
  • ...and, like, a few other people too. I'm not familiar with Science Daily...are they reputable?
  • I went for the topical title. I ain't forgetting the others.
  • The new study documents a dramatic and unprecedented therapeutic effect in an Alzheimer’s patient: improvement within minutes following delivery of perispinal etanercept, which is etanercept given by injection in the spine. Wow.
  • Sorry x, didn't mean to sound snarky...I'm just not aware of this Pratchett guy.
  • Wow wow wow wow wow. My grandfather died of Alzheimer's, and he died young. It's so hard to watch, and if there's any kind of hope, it's just so amazing.
  • Don't get too many hopes up until there have been advanced and, particularly, longitudinal studies to determine if the effect is sustained for a long period of time. The abstract makes it pretty clear that this is just a preliminary report.
  • Oh, I'm not convinced it's a miracle cure or anything. Just that any kind of hope is better than none.
  • I'd feel lots better if they could get something off the ground in the next few years. It thought of Alzheimer's scares me spitless.
  • We KNOW, Gramma, you just SAID that FIVE MINUTES ago. heh heh heh heh
  • ^^ that's pretty much what it's like to hang out with my grandma, lately.
  • Vertigo, I'm sure you don't mean to say that your grandma is a MEAN, SPITEFUL, AND WICKED PERSON, JUST LIKE THAT KOKO!! But of course that's what your ^^ was pointing at, so I guess that's what you meant. Have patience, dear.
  • Terry thinks it's worth a million bucks at least. He says: "Personally, I'd eat the arse out of a dead mole if it offered a fighting chance."
  • More news from Terry. He's had to stop driving, and can't find his cell phone. "The trouble with being an atheist is that it lets God off the hook"
  • Part One of Terry Prattchett: Living With Alzheimer's on BBC iPlayer. Astonishingly honest and open documentary, I cried, I laughed, I cried some more. Brilliant. (Possibly only viewable in the UK)
  • Currently BBC iPlayer TV programmes are available to play in the UK only, but all BBC iPlayer Radio programmes are available to you. Why?,/i> Yes. Why why why why?????
  • Woah, I can't believe I didn't comment in this thread. *breaks out pompoms and loudhailer* GO TERRY!
