David Lynch's Dune... overdubbed. A parody re-release trailer for David Lynch's 1984 cult-classic DUNE.
  • David Lynch's, eh? Don't let Frank Herbert's ghost hear you say that.
  • Alas, really not doing it for me. I'm usually all about references to the 1984 film version of Dune. I mean, he who controls the spice controls the universe after all. Seems it'd be funnier if I was on controlled substances. Possibly spice. *hunts around spice cabinet*
  • Bear is the mind-killer...
  • Larger and shinier.
  • I thought beer was the mind-killer.
  • Don't let Frank Herbert's ghost hit you in the ass on the way out!
  • That wasn't directed at you, At Swim Two Birds. I just thought it sounded funny. Shouldn't have had that margarita.
  • David Lynch's Dune bore only a passing resemblance to Frank Herbert's, as far as I recall.
  • I think Herbert's Dune had fewer codpieces.
  • I take a perverse pride in never having seen it. I did see the Sci-Fi channel version, which was...okay, I suppose. Chani was not difficult to watch on screen.
  • Strange coincidence - I saw the 3 hour movie version of Dune for the first time after I saw it in the movies, and was less whelmed by it, although I remembered the memorable parts. Gawd the sfx were bad - worse than 1977 Star Wars - shaky matt alignment, blue screen borders, muppet navigators, Flash Gordon spaceships. It was interesting to see Alia was played by Candice Bergen's TV daughter.
  • I had the Dune board game, complete with Kanly Cards.
  • I thought the voice redubs were actually pretty amusing. Mau'dib!
  • I am a BIG fan of the Lynch Dune. It's a wonderful lesson in failure.
  • It's a wonderful lesson in failure. The movie definitely walks without rhythm.
  • But it has the Alan Smithee seal of approval!
  • I dunno; I'm of two minds. This first says that two versions have already been made, with lots of money thrown at them, and neither was up to snuff. That could be a sign that it's essentially an unfilmable book. The other says that many fans of LOTR thought the same thing, and yet the right creative team came along and pulled it off to most people's satisfaction.
