80s videos Hours of fun. God, I'm old.
  • *weeps*
  • Ah - Scritti Pollitti...
  • yeah, this is pretty cool, but watching a few of my old favs was weird...old old old XP
  • *outs self as Scritti Politti fan*
  • I think I'm too young - I remember the (mid to late) 80s clearly, but none of these videos. It probably doesn't help that we didn't have cable (and thus the music channel) until sometime in the 1990s. I remember Glass Tiger, but I had no idea they did a Heritage Minute video. Ooh, children scavaging the dead!
  • What, no Ebn Ozn? j/k. Well, that sure took me back.
  • It is such a shame that they don't make videos like that anymore. Videos today are so terrible. They have to make about a million cuts per second because they are afraid of losing the viewer. In these videos, it seems every video has shots that last several seconds. They can actually tell a story. At the very least, they cause far less headaches. It's all part of the creation of this ADD epidemic. Video games, television, and -- in this case -- music videos use more and more cuts to try to shoot new images to the brain every second. So young kids now grow up with the expectation that their brains need new stimulus every second.
  • And this one.
  • I still have old VHS tapes filled with vidoes from those days. And I confess to a massive girlhood crush on the lead singer of Scritti Politti. And all three a-ha's.
  • I think this is the first time I've ever seen a Furs video when I wasn't wearing the flame-retardant slacks of my school uniform. (Folded in at the ankle and rolled-up, of course.) I'm not going to get any work done today, am I?
  • (Folded in at the ankle and rolled-up, of course.) *Lobs jelly shoe, mismatched earrings, and long, plastic-bead necklace at Capt.*
  • Don't make me strap on my parachute pants, people.
  • *ties on japanese-logo bandana, acts disaffected*
  • That woman on 'Funky Town' has the worst robot I've ever seen. And those eyes! For her sake, I hope she was on the coke...
  • I'm listening to Scritti Politti right now, as it happens. And I still maintain that Cupid and Psyche 85 is the greatest album ever recorded. TUM, I also had the crush to end all crushes on the lovely fey androgyne intellectual Green Gartside when I were a lass -those eyes! that hair! those suits! those hats! - and was horrified to find out recently that he's now turned 50, started dressing like a rapper and got piercings. *sigh*
  • For what's it's worth, he *did* have a perfect way to make the girls go crazy. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm in the midst of a Britny Fox moment, and I shouldn't be disturbed.
  • *Adjusts skinny leather tie*
  • :)
  • bless you cap'n, thats what i get for posting drunk. i meant to post that page, not the one video.... *sigh*
  • Ohmygodmytextboxisminiscule!!2"!
  • This is the song that convinced me to stop listening to my parents' classic rock and listen to my own music.
  • Let's Groove - OMG pass the blotter paper!
  • Now THOSE are REAL videos. Yeah, Baby! It was the age when all musicians thought they could act (even though they looked silly to the rest of us). This is a reminder of the prophecy written by Mad magazine back in the 70s: Actors want to sing, Singers want to act. Tell me it ain't true. Wow, I'll get nothing done today. Thanks for the links!
  • billy bragg's greetings to the new brunette had it all. chimp on chimp action, girl on chimp action, daleks fighting cardboard box robots. it's all there.
  • )))
  • (Probably just stating the obvious but...) with regard to the "los 80s" page - note that the person putting the page together just picked one (sometimes more) songs from a band and there are often many more on youtube. (and yes un-, even EBN OZN!)
  • There is nothing that will vault me back to the summer of 1983 more quickly than Kajagoogoo's "Too Shy" video. For just a few minutes, I am still an awkward, brace-faced 14 year old, desperate to get out of Dayton, Ohio and fly to England to meet all of the pretty British boys I loved so much!
  • Yes, I was stunned with that ("what, just that one Kate Bush clip?") when I realized, duh, that YouTube has its' own search engine... and the floodgates opened. Ah, even SigueSigueSputnik and Klaus Nomi are there... Fish heads, fish heads, roly poly fish heads... eat them up YUM! And, just to further the collective suffering, here's how to save YouTube video files. You have them on dusty Beta & VHS tapes in the closet, now they can be on your HD!
  • Oodles of cheesy goodness, especially those of us approaching geezerhood. Thanks Queso!
  • mY gAwds! These interwebs are alive with the sounds of muZic! *searches for Der Kommisar*
  • *pulls out the vault of MTV's 120 Minutes VHS tapes*
  • Ohmygodmytextboxisminiscule!!2"! WHAT the HELL are you doing in my text box!! I claimed the 2x2" one in the other thread, didn't I? Didn't I. DIDN'T I!! So get out. It's not big enough for two.
  • Monkeyfilter: Get out. It's not big enough for two.
  • I heard that one a few days ago.
  • Keeh-rist! This video for 'Heat Of The Moment' by Asia is the funniest thing I've seen all morning! Way too literal reading of the lyrics, brothers... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kABPWT_gOcQ
  • *eyes all over Koko* Why, I never knew!!
  • God, I miss Nu Shooz.
