Curious George - Music for a doc on women in the military
I am cutting a promotional video that will be used to sell and raise money for a documentary I am working on, the topic of which is women and their changing roles in the military. The primary focus of the doc will be the women of WWII with the formation of the WACs, WAVs, etc...

The music could be as specific as period recordings about women in the military, or as broad as a good patriotic march, period or modern. Also, this is not a pro-war doc, per se, but it is pro-military and looks at the military experience from feminist perspective.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Cameron Diaz at the Reebok Human Rights Awards: "Brutalized, attacked, imprisoned and tortured by the Mexican military, the Mixe found themselves without a voice," Cameron read. Then, looking up at the audience, puppy dog eyes wide, she ad libbed, "I think we all know what that feels like, right guys?" From the back of the auditorium came the response, "I want to do you, Cameron!" She smiled and waved. "You guys are so awesome!"

Not only does it introduce the church office staff to free and open source software, it raises questions about software licenses that every Christian needs to answer. Whether you are a technologist, the Pastor, or a Christian in the pew, you need to be aware of the freedom you stand to lose when you choose the software you will run.

Teh Steve Moustache Show!1! I laughed, I cried, I got my daily fill of internet stupid. (wmv videos)

The Prank Place offers everything from truck nutz to, um, the dancing toilet turd. Not for the faint of heart nor the stupid-humor-challenged. But for the rest of us, a gross gag goldmine!

Any Zombies Out There? Yes. Lots. And they're bloody hard to kill.

Curiously Jittery George: When viewing certain .wmv files (okay, a torrent of last night's Daily Show) the picture is very clear but also very jumpy. I've tried viewing with every media player I have... what gives, monkeys?

This guy is sick of BMG Music. You might be too, if you're one of the lucky people who have recently received a CD you didn't order. Oh, and there's a bill enclosed. Apparently this is BMG's new marketing campaign: send people music and a bill, and they will pay. Unfortunately, it's almost impossible to call and complain or even cancel your new "account." I wonder how many people are falling for this?

Revenge of the Sith

"Revenge of the Sith" is, quite simply, fucking awesome. This is the "Star Wars" prequel the haters have been bitching for since "Menace" came out, and if they don't cop to that when they finally see it, they're lying.

A Call to Arms! Or at least a call to set pens to paper...

A very good friend of my wife and I is in her
last month of pregnancy. Yesterday, her OB put her on complete and total bedrest rest for the next three or more weeks. Our little monkey brains started scheming on how to make our friend's enforced confinement as a very pregnant beached whale bearable.

Curious George: Internet monitor. I am having lots of trouble finding a good Win app that will monitor my Internet connection minute-by-minute and tell me when the connection was up or down (Web down, DNS down, etc). Most of the programs I've found are good at alerting on outages but are poor on logging them. Any ideas here?

Cooking and engineering CAN live in harmony. Well, maybe not. I dont want to see an angry engineer with a chef's blade. Anyhow, it's customary if you're an engineer (especially if you're a student) to subsist on twinkies and ramen, but this guy begs to differ.

Kitten rearing. Curious George: I have five two-week-old kittens on my hands, literally. Their mother is reluctant to care for them. I had to cut their umbilical cords when they were born (4am, thank you!) and I have had to feed them semi-regularly for the last two weeks plus a day whenever they are hungry (2am, 4am, 5:27am or when ever, their cries are undeniable).
