This entry discusses the etymology and application of a selection of words that, to varying degrees, can be considered vulgar or offensive. As a necessity, this entails the use of said words, and it is strongly advised that, should you find such words distressing or inappropriate, you do not read on beyond this point.
  • I had to read the paragraph containing 'The Dog's B******s' several times before I figured out what they were trying for. I don't understand their use of the ***'s in general. It's not clear if/when they are quoting someone, and therefore showing the original censorship, or something else. It slows down the reading comprehension.. and I don't r***d like it!
  • Strange they gave a warning about "the use of [bad] words" and then seemed to make every effort to avoid, y'know, actually using aforementioned words.
  • We had friends from Leeds stay with us for a fortnight this summer (in Nebraska) and this particular subject was the only thing we had any problem with. They didn't like "crap", which is a euphemism for the exclamation "shit" around here. "Fanny" was quite appalling to them, as well. We also had fun teaching their 11 year old son to say: "Wutts UP, homey!" with the appropriate accent.
  • in 1230AD, both Oxford and London boasted districts called 'Gropecunte Lane', tee hee.
  • Hmph.
  • This is quite good, especially the contributions from Buzz Aldrin and HRH the Duke of Edinburgh. As for the article linked in the FPP, must say the writing style got on my tits.
  • Hmph Curse the c***-a** search!!
  • Cure-all? clip-art? Anyway, it's not a double, 'cause it hasn't been a fpp before. ctrl-alt?
  • ain't that the dog's danglers
  • Apologies for not reading that particular thread, fish tick. I certainly would have credited you had I seen that.
  • Carp-ale! duh!
  • Get fucked you shiteing cunts! Bollocks to ya.
  • ask me arse, ya bollix!
  • Fuck off you fucking fucker, you're fucked!
  • criminy! you can go to heck you flipping bathcubes! Wasn't there a band called The Funking Barstewards?
  • "Mother fucker's tryin' to fuck my shit" - overheard while buying used CDs.
  • It really amuses me to see "bollocks" and "wanker" starred out. Heh. Not in the least offensive to me, really. "Bollocks" sounds sort of formal in a way, like calling someone a penis or phallus instead of a cock or saying micturate rather than piss. Had no idea that fanny referred to the booty in the US and to the vagina in the UK - that's weird. And "taking the mickey" - nice to see the etymology of that one...
  • o don't scold them! there are no bad words to see or to roll across your tongue they only live because you make them live being a fool, I spring to defend them! as I relish not relinquish their power over men a power that we grant them meaning only happens in your head without a human ear there is no music where language lurks outside the skull there is no sense and things just are it's always our very human choice that lets the universe lie mute or have a very human voice
  • Don't forget We'd have no luck In getting Chyren to reply Without a lot Of cock shit and fuck Adorning threads to our delight
