Famous monkeys throughout history.
  • I remember being at an art museum and coming so close to actually buying a reproduction print of one of Koko the gorilla's paintings that they had put on a T-shirt. That's one of those moments you're glad you snapped out of...
  • I was always a Sam and Ham fan. I wanted to be an astronaut sooo bad-- I still have some Space Food Sticks from my youth! (n.b.; i saw no mention of Dr. Lizardo's eternal rebuke, "Laugh While Ya Can, You-a Monkey Boysss!!!" ) http://badassmovieimages.com/movies/adventuresofbuckaroobanzai/image2.html
  • Pleeeeze someone teach me the basics of posting. Pleeeeze.
  • Pleeeeze someone teach me the basics of posting [a href="http://www.metafilter.com/"]metafilter[/a] replace [ with < and ] with >, and write the text you want the link to say where i've written metafilter. The above link would look like this: metafilter I hope that helps.
  • I'm not sure why I used metafilter as an example there, sorry. Here's you link linked, anyway: Dr. Lizardo
  • Many Thanks for your Courtesies, dng. I'm still in over my head. I'm the guy who was given an iPod back in September and still hasn't taken it out of the box because it seemed so downloady, or something. My iMac works really well, but I had to take a three-day weekend to get it all jiggered correctly. Anybody wanna make some quick cash being my Chief IT Person?

No... but I'll take that iPod off your hands for ya. *cheshire grin*
  • Dizzy: Over at MetaFilter we like to include the line administrator!!! please hope me! on such occasions, but I realize new groups require new styles. One suggestion (and trust me, if I, a complete tech-ignoramus, can learn to use HTML, so can you) is to click on the View pull-down menu at the top, then click on Source; you'll get a Notepad with the source code that led to everything you see on the page. You can copy something, paste it into your comment box, substitute the text or URL you want to use, and hit Preview. And pray.
  • There's also tons of useful how-to guides to using simple html on the web: just do a google search for "html tutorial" and you'll find something. If you were in the same country as me I'd offer you some pointers in return for one unused iPod, but I'm guessing you, like everyone else, are not from round these here parts.
  • Joking aside, Dizzy, where are you at and maybe I can help? I'm in NYC.
  • I would only call my favorite monkey a monkey if I wanted to loose an arm. Apes are wonderful, but I think I would worry if I landed on a whole planet of them, though I did have VHS of all the movies at one point (only the classics, of course). That said, I would highly reccomend the original, and more biting, novel by Pierre Boulle. It has had different titles, in French and English, including Monkey Planet, but now is generally published under the title of the various and infamous movies.
  • certainsome1-- I'm presently calling the treetops of Baltimore my home, so I'm a bit far for a face to face tutorial, but you are very kind to offer. You just want my iPod!!! I KNEW IT!
  • MonkeyFilter!!! Oh yeah, ummm, .. yes.
  • I too am a non-html-ing primate, and in an attempt to make an evolutionary leap I just pulled down the "View Source" thingy. It is, without a doubt, the most terrifying thing I have ever seen.Never again. NEVER AGAIN! I now know how the 2001 apes must have felt upon first seeing the monolith. Neat how I tied everything back to 'famous monkeys,' isn't it?
  • Q: How many apes does it take to first see the monolith? A: 2001. Two thousand extras to add ambience, and one to pick up a thigh bone and go bonkers.
  • You know what? My comments never made any sense.
  • Only thing to do is move on.
  • I'll add another one.
  • Oh, gorsh! Nick's finally getting a klue!
