Residence rules. When you just really need to know what avunculocal means. With diagrams.

I have a friend whose favorite fun word to say aloud is "avunculocal". I have to say, he's got great taste.

  • In Britain we have 'Down-the-local' marriages. Once returning from the honeymoon the new husband abandons his young spouse and returns to spending all his time down the local boozer like he used to.
  • So what would that word mean?
  • To live with one's uncle. It's number 5 on the list. There are diagrams.
  • Interesting. I'm curious what a combination of 2 and 3 would be? Basically, all siblings are "prisoners" of the household. Their respective husbands, wives and children join the household. Chaos none-the-less! The house continues to expand...
  • What about canilocal marriages, where the husband is in the doghouse? Or piscilocal ones, where one or both of the couple sleep with the fishes?
  • Or stablocal, where horse-crazy spouses spend most of their time in the barn?
  • I think The Residents are possibly the worst band I have ever seen.
