A new ocean is forming in the Afar region of Ethiopia, thanks to a veritable earthquake swarm.
  • Oh, that Mother Nature!
  • Amazing. How long before someone attributes this to the effects of global warming?
  • Now I finally understand how Jesus pulled off that whole "walk on water" thing.
  • Somewhere, there's a developer trying to figure out how to market the new beachfront property.
  • The Republicans are having a press conference at noon to blame this on Bill Clinton.
  • A million years? I want new sea NOW! Blow the mountains up! Let the Red Sea in! A View To A Kill, Superman, Superman Returns, any other movies with major landscaping taking place?
  • I've still got the horn.
  • Aw. Lookie the baby proto-oceanic trought. coochie coo!
  • Yeah. Spelling. Whatever.
  • so i guess it'll be a while before this renders the ethiopia-eritrea dispute moot?
  • Astounding stuff. Bit off topic but this snippet from one of links caught my eye, working with languages and all:
Dabbahu, a stratovolcano, also goes by several other names, including Mount Dabbahu, Boina, Moina, and Boyna...The profusion of names and spellings for this region of Africa partly stems from widely dissimilar alphabets; the one used in the region has over 100 letters, complicating conversion into languages having only 26.
  • so i guess it'll be a while before this renders the ethiopia-eritrea dispute moot? Borders, yes. Fishing rights, no.
  • How long before someone attributes this to the effects of global warming? Wrong way about, Pleg. Must be pretty scary--camped out under the stars, and then things go bang, and you've got a goat roast.
  • Goat in a Hole!!!
