*sirens and pointing fingers
EEKed. There are so many things I wanted to snark about on that site that I had to quit my browser last time.
So what's everyone doing this weekend? I went to an auction this morning to price commercial kitchen equipment, then we took the kids to the beach and tested out an outrigger built from flax and bamboo sticks. Now I am sleepy.
Me, I'm studying for evil dreaded comprehensive exams. Once a year at school they test us on everything we've learned up to that point. It is a full day of testing (5 written tests one day and 2 practical exams the next.) If you fail any of the tests you have two weeks to study and retake them. After that, if you fail you withdraw for 2 quarters and try again. After that, bye bye. My comps are on Friday the 24th. Wish me luck.
By the way, Tracicle, that's one of the quickest EEKS I've ever witnessed.
Lazy Saturday coming up but the weather is still pretty good so maybe a little fishing.
Commercial cooking equipment?
Watching the football, then the cricket, with beers.
Yes, I am an Australian.
Hmm. Lurk around some coffee bars working on a translation whilst listening to the cricket, dinner with some friends, then stroll home to watch the (proper) football and pack my bags for a trip home tomorrow.
It's not often I'm online when an eek-worthy post pops up. Most posting takes place in my sleepytime, methinks.
The commercial cooking equipment isn't technically for me, but for a business I may venture into in another year or so. We're pricing at the moment and I need to do a small-business management course so I know what I'm doing first. More another time; I daresay there'll be a Curious George post from me at some desperate point in the future.
No footy on here tonight that I know of. I haven't been paying attention to the NPC this year. The Madam commands too much attention in the evenings.
Where's home for you, Abiezer?
Hmmmm....cooking equipment.... small business...
Ah ha
Dear old Blighty, trace. Bit of a last minute rush job, but will get to spend a week in the bosom of my family or like as not propping up the bar in the local. There's a slim chance I may even be in London to make the meet-up, but it might be a struggle.
Those sound good, Argh, I think I'll have to try them next time I have some bananas. (Lots of potassium, I hear.)
I bet the other pommy monkeys would love to see you if you could make it, Abiezer. You can see how it feels to be on the receiving end of the seethe.
Please meet us up in London Abiezer, at whatever time suits you. I am not easy to get to China, and we Londonians are fans of you.
I would love to see you all quid! Unfortunately the timing is a bit mad and I'm skint as a button, so will mostly be living cheap as possibly with family while I sort out a couple of things.
Ideally, I'll catch you all at the meet-up, but if I can't make it I will be in London for a couple of days staying at an old friends before I head back out, so will see who's free then.
I'll be studying, trying to pull a partially-fallen tree limb down (which should be a trick), and playing either this or this. I also plan to drink beer.
Cool, A_C!
middleclass vs tree limb ... scary, yet hilarious.
I've been nursing a muscle spasm in my neck since Thursday morning. It's slightly better today. I wish I had a strong muscle relaxant, but I don't want to spend 3 hours in a clinic to get one. The OTC muscle relaxant makes me feel like a ragdoll with a sore neck. Mr. Koko's making a cookies n' cream cheescake later, and the in-laws are coming over to help us eat it.
I share your pain. I have a chronic neck pain/TMJ affliction that I've only recently found a solution for (a good chiropractor). I say drink three beers and lie down on a hard surface. Liver be damned.
I'd prefer some heroin. Can anyone hook me up?
The chainsaw story made me laugh. Laughing makes my neck hurt more. Thanks alot, jerk.
I laughed at the chainsaw story, too, but for some reason my neck felt fine. Hmmm... It reminded me of this time that we had a week of rain followed by a big windstorm when I was a kid. There were three big (big!) pine trees right outside my bedroom window, and the ground was so saturated with water that the trees just tumped over onto our neighbor's roof. In the middle of the night, then, in the howling wind, rain, and thunder my parents had to go out with two chainsaws to get the trees off the neighbor's house. The neighbor contributed another chainsaw, and God contributed lots and lots of crashing thunder. I slept like a baby through the whole thing, leading to years of ribbing about my impressive ability to sleep through anything :)
Branch Number Two will not be coming down this weekend. A water pipe has ruptured (thankfully, OUTSIDE of the house), so we have staged our own small-scale evacuation to In-Lawistan, where political tensions are high, but there is a strong spirit of goodwill and cooperation. More updates on this crisis to come.
