Goodbye.
I've decided that I am done with monkeyfilter. It has become to dificult to maintain, between my pregnancy and the bickering and snarkiness. All I tried to do was create a place where people could come, get good links, and have good conversation. But apparently that's not what you want. So at 5:00 AM UTC I'm shutting down monkeyfilter indefinitely.

Observe, dumb & tired Monkeys, that the thing saying "trackback" is under the 'following' post. Compare to a real post. That's not where it usually occurs, right? Also, note the time under the 'post' & compare it to that from the directly following one. Notice anything?
Everything in the line that says 'tracicle' is faked using HTML by the poster - in this case, crusiera.
Essentially, what it is, is a spoofed post. It's an OLD trick. And done very, very badly.

It's much easier to do with the comments - spoof FPPs give themselves away much more quickly.

What a pillock. This works in comments (even then, you can tell if you check the timestamp link), but doesn't work for FPPs. Old joke, rubbish joke.

On some stylesheets, even the comments can't be faked successfully. I'm using the "brown on black" (I think) and comments are in white, while the "posted by" statement is in grey.
That would be "Blue on Black", and I'm pleased to hear people are using it.
As for me, I have a pretty "Edit this comment" button under each individual comment, so it's really obvious when one person's got two comments.
Ooh, I want one of those.
And, although this is probably obvious, I'm not going to shut the site down. And I have a backup plan in motion for the times over the next year when I won't be able to fulfil admin duties.
And I didn't delete the "I am a cock" thread, although I wasn't particularly impressed by the title, because, well, I guess because I thought kamus's account being hijacked was sort of important.
