Björk has a new album on the way.
"I think to a certain extent maybe moving to New York influenced me, and then the 9/11 episode and the crisis that is going on in the world today. And to a certain extent all this made me very interested in primitive elements. In something that was before all this happened."
Our old friend Björk has a new album out before the end of the month, and it's looking pretty good. Medúlla, her first studio work since 2001's Vespertine, looks like it's going to be something that nobody has truly ever heard before, and if nothing else, that's some really awesome cover art.
Watch her new music video for 'Oceania' (click on the 'Medúlla player') to see what I mean. Word is that she's using nothing but the human voice as an instrument for the entire album, and based on the 'Oceania' video, she's done an incredible job.
Medúlla is in stores August 30 internationally, August 31 in the USA. You can also check out or pre-order it at amazon.com here.
Fabulous news, glad to hear it. Listening to her is like taking drugs. (I mean that in a good way.)
Triumph of a Heart was recently made available online. It's as good as anything else of hers, although I will always have a special place in my heart for Post.
I just got a copy of Vespertine today.
Opacodex is a Bjork obsessed musicblogger; you'll find all manner of rarities and live stuff and artists who work with bjork over there.
Maybe even some early leaked tracks and the olympic video as well...

Vespertine, perfectly titled, is a liturgy for me, maybe as close to one as I will have. I can't wait to hear her now.
It actually wasn't an article, it was a video interview which you can access on the Medúlla Player. Click 'Medúlla Player', then I think 'Video', and I'm pretty sure it's the first "Making of Medúlla" interview. The part I quoted is near the end.

Bjork is great and all but I'm getting a little tired of the whole "inspired by the events of 9/11" thing.
When is someone going to make an album that is not ispired by those events?
(I know many albums fit that category, I'm just in a mood of sorts)

Go into Microsoft Word. Press and hold control + shift + semicolon/colon - shift and colon + a/e/i/o/u. If you don't release the shift key while you press the vowel, you get a capital letter. (or if you're NOT a masochist, just go insert --> symbol.)
I have no clue why half the FPP's have messed up symbols on my computer, but apparently my system always works. Because I'm perfect.
