Pieter Hugo takes passport-style photos of South Africans whether black, white or albino. More of his work is available on his own website. I love his "The Hyena & Other Men" series.
Intense, vivid, unflinching, thought-provoking. The really arresting thing is the humanity. Great stuff.
Yeah the Hyena series is something else.

And, I don't think I realized how large a Hyena is...!
That is an amazing photo series.
The hyena prints just leave me speechless and far overshadow his other photos.
Hyenas are not something I'd like to meet in a dark alley.

I never realized how big they were. On the nature shows you never see a hyena and a human in the same frame.
